Ingredients

  • ½ cup real salt see note
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a blender add all the ingredients and mix together a few seconds until combined well.
  2. Store in airtight container for up to three months.
  3. To use in recipes that call for chicken or vegetable bouillon, substitute an equal amount. To use in a broth, add ½ teaspoon for 1 cup boiling water.

Recipe Notes

1. The type of salt is important. Healthy salt is always best. Real salt is a brand that will work or sometimes I use pink Himalayan salt.

2. I often use this chicken bouillon substitute when I want to add more flavor to something I am cooking. For example, I usually add about ½ to 1 teaspoon per cup of water when I am cooking rice or quinoa rather than using chicken broth. Sometimes I will use it in sauces in place of salt (with an equal ratio) in savory-type recipes where it can help deepen the flavor.
