I’ve been on the hunt for a go-to perfect way to cook farm fresh hard boiled eggs consistently. The requirements for my perfect method is that they are easy-to peal and have a delicious flavor. Well, my friends, after many years, I landed on this great method (thanks to Brandon).

Now we use it all the time. And I’m super excited to share it with you.

How to Steam Hard Boiled Eggs on the Stove Top

You will need to use a steam pot with a steam basket that fits snugly on the top. The steam basket should have holes in the bottom that allow the steam to come up. It should also have a lid.

Fill the basket with as many eggs as desired. You can steam as many eggs as will fit in the steam pot with the lid still tightly fitting. This recipe works for large sized eggs. I usually cook about 10 eggs because they fit easily in the bottom of my steam basket.

Fill the base of the steam pot with water until it is about halfway full. Place it on the stove top and turn the heat to high.

When the water is at a rolling boil, place the steam pot basket on the top of the base. Cover it with a lid. Set a timer and steam eggs for 15 minutes. If the pot is really full, you may want to add a minute to the cook time. You may want to adjust the cooking time for extra large or smaller eggs.

When time is up, remove steam basket from base and set on a dishcloth to cool. Eggs can be pealed immediately under cold running water or cooled until they are easier to handle. You can place the eggs in ice water to cool quicker. But we prefer the flavor of slightly warm hard boiled eggs. They are irresistible.

Easy Meal or Snack Prep

These hard boiled eggs are so delicious, with their perfectly cooked centers. And you won’t believe how easy they are to peel! Even farm fresh chicken eggs peel effortlessly every time.

We love having hard boiled eggs in the refrigerator ready to eat for a snack or quick meal. Unpeeled hard boiled eggs can be stored for up to a week in the refrigerator. If you peel them, you probably want to make sure they are eaten within just a couple of days.
