Today I’m sharing my favorite brownies to make for a crowd. And that includes a crowd of sweet teeth, if you’re like me.

I’ve been on the hunt for this recipe for a long time, my friends. And tried dozens of brownies recipes over the years. I’ve posted a few of my favorites too.

But guess what?

These are the brownies I’ve been waiting for…

Now listen up, I’m very particular about my brownies. Taste, texture need to be spot on.

And yes, they are.

Taste: Amazing. Check.

Texture: Chewy. Not too dry. Check.

But even more than that, there are qualifications for a perfect brownie recipe.

I have been looking for a recipe with basic ingredients. Ingredients that I can find in any grocery store (and keep stocked in my pantry and refrigerator). I guess I just like knowing I can whip up a batch of these at any given time. And yes, these fit the bill, my friends.

But there’s more.

Can you believe these brownies mix up in one bowl?

My dirty-dish-glaring-soul thanks the stars for that.

Last but not least, I don’t want to mess around here. I need a lot of brownies in my life.

I need enough brownies for a crowd.

And that’s so…

Well, let’s just say, I’m working to develop the character needed to share good brownies. And this recipe is helping.

If you’re still worried about this recipe making too many brownies, I’ll tell you another secret.

You can half the recipe

Yes. That’s right.

If you don’t need enough brownies for a crowd (are you even alive?)…No but really. You can half the recipe in a 9×13-inch pan. Watch the cooking time (check about 10 minutes early – you don’t want to overbake them).

Please don’t ask about thirding the recipe for a 9×9-inch pan. It should work. That is assuming you do your math right and keep an eye on the cooking time. But I really can’t imagine why anyone would want only 9 brownies in their life when they can have 30.

If you’re thinking that 30 brownies is too many for you to eat in a few days…well I guess that’s reasonable. Even I admit it’s beyond my abilities.

That brings me to my last and final secret about this recipe.

These brownies freeze well

They freeze very well.

They freeze so well, in fact, that you can pull one directly out of the freezer (still frozen) and consume it immediately.

Am I just giving away all the secrets to a good life today or what?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter 4 cubes
  • 4 cups (30 ounces) granulated sugar
  • 2 cups (8 ounces) cocoa powder natural or dutch process
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1-2/3 cups (16 ounces) all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line a half sheet baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. In a large microwave safe bowl, melt butter in the microwave (I like to cover it with plastic wrap so it doesn't splatter). Add sugar and cocoa powder and stir well. Add salt, vanilla and eggs and mix until incorporated. Add flour and mix until no flour streaks remain.

  3. Spread batter evenly on prepared pan and bake in 325 degree oven for 30-35 minutes or until set in the center (no longer jiggly). Be careful not to over bake. Let cool before slicing.

Recipe Notes

These brownies freeze great. Just let them cool completely then pack in ziplock freezer bags for up to a month.
